MOCKINGBIRD FOUNDATION
Since its inception, The Mockingbird Foundation has been a leading provider of historical information about Phish and their music. The foundation’s projects include the publication of The Phish Companion, a comprehensive reference chronicling the band’s history and music, and the production of Sharin’ in the Groove, a Phish tribute album featuring various artists. As of May 2024, the foundation has disbursed over 675 grants totaling more than $2.3 million to support music education initiatives across all 50 states.
WHAT THEY DO:
GRANTMAKING
The foundation provides grants to schools and nonprofit organizations that focus on music education for children. In its largest grant round to date, Mockingbird announced 19 new grants totaling $144,158, supporting programs in 15 states.
PUBLICATIONS
The Phish Companion is a comprehensive reference guide detailing Phish's history, including setlists, song histories, and fan stories. The third edition is a hard-bound, 898-page, full-color reference guide, with setlists, song histories, charts, show reviews, fan stories, and 128 pages of Phish photography.
MUSIC PROJECTS
The foundation produced Sharin' in the Groove, a Phish tribute album featuring nearly two hours of music from 23 individual acts, including The Wailers, Dave Matthews, Jimmy Buffett, and others.
PHISH.NET
Adopted by the foundation in 2005, Phish.net is a comprehensive online resource providing setlists, song histories, reviews, and more, serving as a valuable tool for the Phish community.
